UPDATE: MAN ARRESTED IN GERMANY. European Arrest Warrant Issued for Łukasz Ż., Suspected of Fatal Car Crash

A European Arrest Warrant has been issued for 26-year-old Łukasz Ż. by the Warsaw District Court. Żak is suspected of causing a fatal car crash on the Łazienkowska Route in Warsaw. The crash, which took place on Sunday near Torwar towards Praga, resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man who was a passenger in a Ford vehicle. Three other members of the family in the Ford, including two children, were hospitalized. A woman in the Volkswagen, the second vehicle involved, was also seriously injured.

According to police, the Volkswagen, allegedly driven by Ż., rear-ended the Ford, causing it to crash into a barrier. Ż. fled the scene, while the three other passengers in the Volkswagen, all intoxicated, were arrested and charged with obstructing justice and failing to assist the victims.

The police have revealed that Ż. has a history of offenses, including drunk driving and drug possession. Authorities are seeking an Interpol Red Notice, believing other individuals may have aided Ż. in evading justice. If convicted, Ż. could face up to 12 years in prison, while the arrested passengers face up to five years.

The incident has been described as a rare and egregious case of obstruction by Warsaw prosecutors.

He added that intensive measures are being carried out in the investigation. Łukasz Ż. will now await extradition.
