    The Polonika Institute’s exhibition, “Journey into the Unknown,” showcasing 13 cities and 16 stories of Polish heritage abroad, makes its international debut in Vilnius. This event underscores the rich cultural ties between Poland and Lithuania while highlighting the shared history and heritage of both nations. The exhibition explores the Institute’s research and conservation projects in Vilnius, where it has been actively engaged in preserving Polish cultural heritage. The exhibition is held under the honorary patronage of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński.

    Inaugural Event

    The exhibition’s opening on September 5, 2023, at the Polish Cultural Center in Vilnius (ul. Naugarduko 76) will feature a presentation by Konstanty Radziwiłł, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius, and Dorota Janiszewska, the Director of the Polonika Institute. It will be accompanied by a discussion titled “Between Lviv, Rome, and Chicago,” led by art historians Dr. Agata Dworzak, Dr. hab. Michał Pszczółkowski, and Dorota Janiszewska-Jakubiak, exploring the shared history of art and culture.

    Exhibition Highlights

    The exhibition showcases the Institute’s multifaceted activities across three strategic programs: Research, Preservation, and Promotion. Visitors will embark on a captivating journey to 13 cities, including Lviv, Tbilisi, Paris, and New York, discovering Polish artistic and scientific contributions worldwide. The exhibition is divided into two parts, featuring outdoor panels and a multimedia section with films, including an animated series for children and documentaries on heritage preservation efforts.
