Discover fairy-tale-inspired sculptures in Pszczyna celebrating timeless characters and universal values.
The grand opening of the outdoor sculpture exhibition “The Trail of Fairy Tales, Dreams, and Stars” will take place this Friday, as announced by the Pszczyna Town Hall. This unique display features three beloved characters from children’s literature: Little Red Riding Hood, Pinocchio, and Puss in Boots.
The opening ceremony will begin at 12:00 PM in the parking area on Bolesław Chrobry Street in Pszczyna. Standing two meters tall and placed on towering pedestals, these sculptures aim to remind visitors of the timeless role fairy tales play in bridging generations and nurturing cultural heritage.
Crafted from colorful aluminum casts, the sculptures are the work of Michał Batkiewicz, a celebrated artist known for his monumental creations. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, Batkiewicz’s previous works include a replica of the Veit Stoss altar for a Chicago church. His attention to detail and imaginative style bring these iconic characters vividly to life.
This exhibition not only evokes childhood memories but highlights the universal values fairy tales convey. From Pinocchio’s lesson on truth to Puss in Boots’ cleverness and Red Riding Hood’s bravery, these figures hold a special place in European cultural history.
