“In the situation involving the president, someone failed to fulfill their duties – in fact, someone exposed the head of state and his closest circle to danger. These are serious allegations concerning the functioning of the state and the security of protected individuals,” assessed MP Łukasz Kmita.
On Saturday evening, a series of false reports reached its peak. Following anonymous tips first about a possible fire and then about a threat to the lives of people inside the premises, emergency services – the fire brigade and the police – forcibly entered, breaking down the door, into the family home of President Karol Nawrocki in Gdańsk. The intervention lasted several minutes. The apartment was empty. Earlier, similar incidents had taken place at the apartment of Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz; before that, at the home of Tomasz Sakiewicz, as well as at the residences of other journalists and associates of TV Republika.
Today, MPs from Law and Justice (PiS) – Łukasz Kmita and Paweł Szrot – arrived at the National Police Headquarters to carry out a parliamentary intervention in this matter.
“We want to determine whether the Polish police are helpless in the face of actions that strike at the security of the Polish state. We want to examine in detail what responses the Polish police took following this series of incidents, which recently affected the closest person to the president”, Kmita indicated.
Referring to information “from former officers and individuals involved in security,” he stated that all procedures regarding, among other things, the protection of the head of state and their immediate circle had been violated.
“We are aware that when Donald Tusk received protection, that protection also covered locations and extended to his closest family members. In the case of the president, someone failed to fulfill their duties – in fact, someone exposed the head of state and his closest circle to danger. These are serious allegations concerning the functioning of the state and the security of protected individuals”, he said.
He added that “the police and those responsible for protecting the president’s environment failed, as did the Minister of the Interior, Marcin Kierwiński”.
Referring to the course of the operation itself, Łukasz Kmita stated that “we have information from the services that, on police orders, firefighters broke down the door – it is standard procedure that police officers do not force entry themselves; instead, firefighters are used”.
“Tusk is trying to salvage his image by suggesting that firefighters made such a decision out of concern for health and life. It appears that from the very beginning – from the moment of entry into Mr. Sakiewicz’s home, then the notification of an alleged danger on Jarosław Kaczyński’s property, and finally the unfortunate and dramatic situation at the apartment of the president’s mother – no procedures worked. The services drew no conclusions, no corrective actions were taken, and it seems as if these actions were disregarded, even at the ministerial level, despite the need for immediate response. How many such cases must occur before the state finally starts to act?”, asked the Law and Justice (PiS) MP.
