“Waiting another two years with this government at the helm will mean that any government taking power in two years will face an extremely difficult task, because lifting the country from such ruin, to which Tusk’s government is leading us, will be very hard,” assessed on Monday on Radio Republika MP from PiS Przemysław Czarnek. In his view, a quick change in Polish politics is necessary, and power could even be transferred to a technical government.
Last week, we learned that the American rating agency Fitch downgraded Poland’s rating outlook to negative. The government quickly found an alleged culprit for this situation, and it became President Karol Nawrocki. Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański stated that Poland’s rating was changed due to “blocking key laws” by the president. Many commentators pointed out that Domański’s claims are absurd, since the agency’s decision was not made overnight, and Nawrocki has only been in office for a month.
“Public debt will grow”
On Thursday, PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek commented on the matter on TV Republika. The opposition politician has no doubt that the ruling party is responsible for the downgrade of Poland’s rating. He emphasized that this will have disastrous consequences for the state.
“All external investors who will now buy Polish bonds – and their purchase by external investors is necessary – will demand higher interest from the Polish state, higher yields on these bonds due to the worse rating from Fitch. As a result, Poland’s public debt, external debt, will grow even more,” he said.
“There is no time to lose”
As he stated, “waiting another two years with this government at the helm will mean that any government taking power in two years – regardless of who will be its prime minister, who will form the coalition, or who will have the parliamentary majority – will face an extremely difficult task, because lifting the country from such ruin, to which Tusk’s government is leading us, will be very hard.”
“So all the more this year this government should be replaced, even by a technical government. Because here there is no time to lose,” he added.
