‘Forests Full of Energy’: PGE Group’s Planting Efforts Result in Over 110,000 New Trees

In the latest edition of the “Forests Full of Energy” campaign, the PGE Group successfully planted over 110,000 young trees across 21 diverse locations spanning 12 provinces. This remarkable tree-planting endeavour marked the 23rd edition since the program’s inception in 2000. The initiative drew participation from dedicated PGE Group employees, their families, school children, experienced foresters, and enthusiastic members of local communities. As part of this ongoing commitment to reforestation, the upcoming forest planting event is slated for the forthcoming autumn season.

“PGE is a socially committed partner. This manifests itself not only in our business, charitable or sponsoring activities but also in our pro-environmental activities. For 23 years, with the support of environmental institutions, together with local communities, children and schoolchildren, we have been planting forests throughout Poland. During this time, we have planted nearly 900,000 new trees, with a record number of over 110,000 trees this spring alone. This is our contribution to environmental protection, ecological education, as well as supporting local communities,”

Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

Tree Planting Event: PGE Employees and Local Communities Come Together

A remarkable tree planting event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 2,000 individuals, including PGE employees, and their families, invited guests such as school children, youth, and aspiring footballers from the Stal Rzeszów Football Academy, along with representatives from local communities. The event went beyond tree planting as PGE volunteers dedicated their efforts to clean up various forest areas near Sulików and Radomierzyce, adjacent to the Turów Complex. Furthermore, green spaces within the Głogów Forest District and the iconic Carska Droga in the breathtaking Biebrza Valley received attention. This cleanup initiative saw the active involvement of PGE employees, their families, school children, dedicated foresters, and the diligent staff of the Biebrza National Park.

The tree planting campaign commenced with the enthusiastic employees of PGE Obrót and the Rzeszów branch of PGE Dystrybucja. They received invaluable support from the students of Primary School No. 13 in Rzeszów and the talented young athletes from the Stal Rzeszów Football Academy. Together, during the course of several hours, they successfully planted over 4,000 young pine trees.

The culmination of the spring tree planting event took place in Zgierz, where dedicated PGE EC employees undertook the planting of 36 saplings on the premises of the Zgierz Combined Heat and Power Plant. This initiative exemplifies the commitment of PGE Group to environmental sustainability and responsible practices.

Forests Full of Energy: PGE Group’s Flagship Environmental Project

Forest Full of Energy is an exceptional environmental initiative led by the PGE Group for the past 23 years. Annually during spring, PGE employees, along with families, children, school students, scouts, athletes, and members of local communities, collaborate with the State Forests to plant trees in designated forest areas. These locations are meticulously prepared by forest districts to ensure optimal growth conditions. With an impressive participation of nearly 29,000 individuals since its inception, over 880,000 trees, including pines, spruces, oaks, and beeches, have been planted across 72 sites in 14 provinces.

The primary objective of the “Forests Full of Energy” program is to enhance awareness among its participants regarding the crucial role of forests in preserving the environment and mitigating climate change. Additionally, the initiative aims to rejuvenate forest management practices. By fostering a sense of social and environmental responsibility among employees and their families, the program cultivates harmonious relationships between the PGE Group and local communities. Moreover, planting trees on State Forest land provides an educational experience, as participants engage in informative forest planting workshops conducted by experienced foresters.
