From Promises to Excuses – TVP Info (in liquidation) Points to Nawrocki’s Victory

“This was supposed to be a turning point and a key test: the presidential election. For those in power, it was meant to mean full authority and the removal of the blockade on the flagship campaign slogans”, it was said yesterday during the 2025 year-end summary broadcast on TVP Info (in liquidation). It appears that the government television channel has still not come to terms with Rafał Trzaskowski’s defeat.

Politically, 2025 was an intense year. It began with a presidential campaign that lasted nearly until midyear. On June 2, after two rounds of the contest, it became clear that the new President of the Republic of Poland was Karol Nawrocki. Thus, Rafał Trzaskowski once again lost the presidential election.

The results from 100 percent of precinct electoral commissions showed that the civic candidate won by 50.89 percent to 49.11 percent of the vote.

However, before Karol Nawrocki was officially sworn in, figures from the ruling camp, together with media outlets sympathetic to them, tried in many ways to undermine the choice made by Poles. Publicly, arguments appeared calling for the vote to be repeated.

Year in Review on TVP Info (in liquidation). Is the Station Still Lamenting?

Nearly five months have passed since President Nawrocki’s swearing-in. Nevertheless – yesterday, on the last day of 2025 – TVP Info (in liquidation) summed up this period. Viewers of the station could hear about a “year of challenges.”

At one point, the host of the evening program said: “This was supposed to be a turning point and a key test: the presidential election. For those in power, it was meant to mean full authority and the removal of the blockade on the flagship campaign slogans. Because many of them still have not been delivered.”

Next came the narrative typical of Donald Tusk’s coalition about excessive… “vetoing.”

“President Nawrocki vetoed more than 20 government bills in less than half a year,” we hear.

On the official website of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, there is information about 20 vetoed bills. Far more were signed – 132. The President also submitted 14 legislative initiatives.

Further on, the TVP Info (in liquidation) report states: “This was the ruling camp’s greatest hope for a new opening; polls gave Rafał Trzaskowski victory in the presidential election, which would have opened the way to delivering on campaign promises. However, things turned out differently.

According to this narrative – Donald Tusk’s government is failing to deliver on the “100 concrete pledges” because of… Karol Nawrocki. Simply put – “crystal clear.”
