Israeli retaliatory shelling, carried out since Saturday against targets of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has already left some 1,055 people dead and nearly 5,200 wounded. The total number of fatalities on both sides of the conflict is already more than 2,200. Israeli authorities say that a total of 1,200 Israelis have been killed in the past four days, 170 of them soldiers.
