PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna has become a patron of the National Museum in Gdańsk. It is already the fifth national museum to join the PGE Cultural Energy Group. As part of their joint activities, PGE and the Museum will work together to promote cultural education and build the Museum’s image as a place open to all audiences.
As part of its cooperation with the National Museum in Gdańsk, PGE will extend its patronage to all events, exhibitions, and special projects organised at the Museum’s headquarters and in its branches: Branch of Modern Art in the Abbots’ Palace in Gdańsk Oliwa, Branch of Ethnography in the Abbots’ Granary, Branch “Green Gate”, Museum of the National Anthem in the manor house of Józef Wybicki in Będomin near Kościerzyna, Museum of Noble Tradition in Waplewo Wielkie and NOMUS – New Museum of Art.
In addition, in cooperation with the Museum, PGE will carry out a number of educational and cultural projects aimed at encouraging various groups of the public – children, young people, adults, and seniors – to participate in and benefit from the rich offer of museum events.
PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna is one of the largest patrons of culture in Poland. It supports 21 cultural institutions across Poland, including the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Kraków, the Wawel Royal Castle, the National Museum in Lublin, the National Museum in Kielce, the National Museum in Gdańsk, and 16 philharmonics and music institutions.
In 2023, on behalf of PGE, the Brainlab company conducted research on, among other things, cultural activity among children and young people. The data obtained show that only one in three children is interested in culture and art and visits cinemas, museums, exhibitions, and theatres. The results of the survey show that initiatives such as those implemented by PGE are needed to develop an interest in culture and art among the youngest.
Therefore, PGE actively supports culture, not only through patronage of cultural events and institutions but first and foremost by encouraging everyone to get in touch with art and interact with culture. As part of its cultural activities, it particularly supports educational initiatives aimed at providing universal access to art. It carries out these activities through the ‘PGE Cultural Group’ programme.
In 2022, more than 6,000 individual events were organised in PGE-supported cultural institutions, attended by nearly 6 million people. In addition, more than 960,000 children took part in museum education programmes supported by PGE. This means that one in four schoolchildren in Poland took part in cultural activities carried out with PGE’s support.
