“German Scam”. Czarnek Strongly on SAFE: “There Is No Greater Madness”

“This is such an absurd program that only a person deprived of the ability to use their sense of sight cannot see the huge swindle and the German scam being proposed to us here”, declared Law and Justice (PiS) MP Przemysław Czarnek, referring to the SAFE loan pushed by the coalition government on December 13.

Czarnek on the RRF: “German Scam”

Law and Justice (PiS) MP Przemysław Czarnek spoke in strong terms about the EU SAFE loan on the program “Graffiti” on Polsat News. In his view, “this is such an absurd program that only a person deprived of the ability to use their sense of sight cannot see the huge swindle and the German scam being proposed to us here”.

He pointed out that one of the greatest concerns is the so-called conditionality mechanism. In his opinion, “this means that this money is uncertain – if we have uncertain money, then we have no security”.

“There is no greater madness, and this is happening on a level that is so important, namely security, in the face of the greatest external threat since the Second World War”, he assessed.

He also drew attention to the fact that during the parliamentary vote on the SAFE bill, the German ambassador Miguel Berger was present.
“The bill was passed under the supervision – and indeed very intensive supervision – of the Federal Republic of Germany’s ambassador, who incidentally does not take a single euro from this loan, but oversees that the Poles take it. A coincidence? I don’t think so”, he noted.

Czarnek also emphasized that members of the December 13 coalition “will use these billions, which they are supposed to borrow from the Germans for the Germans, and we don’t even know if they will get them or not, to replace today’s Armed Forces Support Fund with this massive loan, which our grandchildren will still be repaying”.

Asked whether Law and Justice (PiS) is pressuring President Karol Nawrocki to veto the SAFE bill, he replied: “We are not putting any pressure on the Presidential Palace. The President will do what he considers right. We are pointing out a massive danger”.

Controversies Around SAFE

Over the past several months, the German arms sector, led by Rheinmetall, has signed a series of contracts in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, and Italy, preparing for the launch of SAFE.

Under this program, Poland is expected to take on a record debt of €43.7 billion, and much indicates that a significant portion of these funds will go to German weapons manufacturers. The SAFE loan is also to be subject to the so-called conditionality mechanism, similar to the RRF.

The portal Niezalezna.pl revealed that on a classified list of purchases from the EU SAFE program, shared among MPs, only two companies are listed. These are Polska Amunicja, managed by Paweł Poncyljusz, and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa. The rest consists of a list of types of armaments and equipment that are to be financed.
