GKS Tychy Secures 11th Polish Cup Victory

GKS Tychy hockey team claimed their 11th Polish Cup, solidifying their status as the tournament’s most decorated club. Under the guidance of Finnish coach Pekka Tirkkonen, Tychy defeated JKH GKS Jastrzębie 3:1 in an electrifying final witnessed by a packed arena. This victory also marked Tychy’s third consecutive Polish Cup win.

    Decisive Moments in the Final

After a lackluster first period, Tychy took the lead in the second with Joona Monto’s precise strike. Despite efforts from Jastrzębie, including key saves by Tomas Fucik, Rasmus Heljanki extended Tychy’s lead in the third period. A late goal by Vratislav Kunst brought Jastrzębie close, but Filip Komorski’s empty-net goal sealed Tychy’s victory.

The final served as a rematch of last year’s thrilling encounter, which Tychy won 3:2 in overtime. This year, however, they avoided extra time, showcasing their consistency and resilience. Jastrzębie, despite their strong league record against Tychy, fell short under pressure.

GKS Tychy remains unbeaten in all Polish Cup finals they’ve contested, cementing their dominance in Polish hockey history.
