    Górnik Zabrze Claims Victory in the Great Silesian Derby, Surpassing Legia in the Ekstraklasa Standings

    Górnik Zabrze emerged triumphant with a 2-1 victory over Ruch Chorzów in the prestigious Great Silesian Derby. The win, secured in the 25th round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, not only bolstered Górnik’s standing but also allowed them to surpass Legia Warsaw in the league table.

    The atmosphere was electric at the Stadion Śląski as Górnik Zabrze clashed with Ruch Chorzów, who were battling to maintain their position in the Ekstraklasa. It was the visitors who headed into halftime with a narrow lead, courtesy of Adrian Kapralik’s goal.

    Górnik asserted their dominance in the second half, extending their lead with a goal from Soichiro Kozuki, leaving Ruch Chorzów with only an honorable strike from Soma Novothny.

    Another defeat for Ruch Chorzów leaves the “Blue-and-Whites” in a precarious position, languishing second from bottom in the Ekstraklasa standings with 18 points. Meanwhile, Górnik Zabrze’s tally of 39 points propels them to sixth place in the league standings.
