Government’s Actions Weaken Poland’s Security and Feed Russian Propaganda, Says Błaszczak

“The government’s claim that Sławomir Cenckiewicz does not have access to classified information has only one purpose: to paralyze the work of the Presidential National Security Bureau (BBN) and weaken Poland’s security,” stated Mariusz Błaszczak (PiS). The former Minister of National Defense also added that this is “at the same time feeding Russian propaganda.”

According to the government’s narrative, Sławomir Cenckiewicz has been stripped of his security clearances, granting access to classified information, which supposedly led to the downgrading of the National Security Bureau’s standing. One day before Karol Nawrocki’s swearing-in as President of Poland, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister submitted cassation complaints to the Supreme Administrative Court (NSA) against the rulings of the Provincial Administrative Court (WSA) dated June 17 of this year, rulings that allowed Cenckiewicz to win his legal battle.

The President’s position on this matter, however, is clear. “We have a very straightforward legal situation, and I say this also as a lawyer. The court ruling effectively invalidated that decision. Of course, there is an extraordinary complaint pending before the Supreme Administrative Court, but the provisions are clear. The decision formally remains in force, but it has no legal effect, and since it has no legal effect, Professor Cenckiewicz, as head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), has access to the most highly classified materials,” said the head of the Presidential Chancellery, Zbigniew Bogucki, yesterday on TV Republika.

Former Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak also commented on Donald Tusk’s government’s actions and Bogucki’s statement.

“The matter is clear and straightforward. Professor Sławomir Cenckiewicz has access to classified information. This was decided by an independent court,”

Błaszczak wrote on social media.

“The government’s claim to the contrary has only one purpose: to paralyze the work of the Presidential National Security Bureau and to weaken Poland’s security, while at the same time providing fodder for Russian propaganda,”

he added.
