A short clip referencing Fat Thursday was posted on the Polish Army’s General Staff profile. It showed a soldier receiving an order… to eat a doughnut. Soon after publication, following a wave of criticism, the video was removed. “What a cringe. Haven’t you noticed that the image of the Polish army has changed in recent years? It brings to mind the chocolate eagle,” commented PiS MP Radosław Fogiel.
Embarrassing Fat Thursday video on the Polish General Staff’s profile
Because today is Fat Thursday, the General Staff of the Polish Army posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a brief caption:
“Today is #FatThursday and… we have hand-to-hand combat training! The mission: Hand over a doughnut to your mouth and neutralize the icing! Deadline for execution: IMMEDIATELY! Who’s up for the challenge? Let us know in the comments how many doughnuts you managed to ‘neutralize’ today!”
In the deleted footage—subsequently reposted online by MP Radosław Fogiel—two soldiers can be seen. One gives the other an “order”:
“Combat training – hand-to-hand! Hand over a doughnut to your mouth, neutralize the icing. Deadline for execution: immediately.”
In the next part, the soldier assigned the “task” reports:
“Corporal, sir, mission accomplished. Twelve doughnuts neutralized, icing secured, soldiers in good condition, morale is high.”
“Thank you, at ease,” comes the response.
“It even brings to mind the chocolate eagle”
MP Radosław Fogiel commented on the video shared on the General Staff’s profile:
“What a cringe. Haven’t you noticed that the image of the Polish army has changed in recent years? It even brings to mind the chocolate eagle.”
Below are a few more reactions:
- Professor Sławomir Cenckiewicz: “It’s painful to say, but this is idiotic.”
- Michał Dworczyk: “The video and hashtags are in the style of Cezary Tomczyk. Are you planning another film with a chocolate eagle?”
- Andrzej Śliwka: “Hey, @SztabGenWP, blink twice if Minister Tomczyk forced you to make this video.”
Hej, @SztabGenWP mrugnijcie dwa razy🙃 jeśli do tego filmiku zmusił Was minister Tomczyk. pic.twitter.com/2loNAN3QCI
