On Monday, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda confirmed the discovery of the bodies of the three other missing U.S. soldiers.
“Until the very last moment, we hoped for a miracle. With deep sorrow and regret, I received the news of the deaths of the American soldiers who perished during training exercises. Their loss is a devastating blow not only to our American friends but also to the Lithuanian Armed Forces,” said Nausėda in a statement released by the presidential office.
The president extended his heartfelt condolences to U.S. President Donald Trump, the families, friends, and comrades of the fallen soldiers, as well as to the American people.
