“We must reach a point where we discuss problems to be solved, our shared development, our plans, aspirations, and security—and hatred cannot be an alternative to incompetent governance. Hatred cannot be a substitute for debate in the Polish parliament or the lives of many social groups,” declared Dr Karol Nawrocki during a ceremony at the Royal Castle, during which he received the resolution of the National Electoral Commission (PKW) confirming the results of the presidential election.
President-elect receives resolution on election results
Today, at the Royal Castle, President-elect Dr Karol Nawrocki received from the head of the National Electoral Commission the resolution confirming the result of the election of the President of the Republic of Poland. In his speech during the ceremony, Dr Nawrocki stated that one of his most important tasks would be to “tear down the walls of hatred” dividing Poles.
“We must reach a point where we discuss problems to be solved, our shared development, our plans, aspirations, and security—and hatred cannot be an alternative to incompetent governance. Hatred cannot be a substitute for debate in the Polish parliament or the lives of many social groups. We must put an end to social hatred. I have a proposal for you on how to achieve this. We must begin to build this community on two emotions. I want to build a Poland where there is room for everyone who loves Poland—or at the very least, respects it. This is the Poland we want, and in such a Poland there will be a place for each of us,”
he emphasized.
The President-elect pointed out that “we must reach a situation in which the issue of Poland’s security becomes a line we do not cross.”
“Everyone must be safe, regardless of whether or not they vote or whom they vote for. Security is the right of all Poles. Building a national community requires collective reflection. In foreign policy, we must speak with one voice: Poland is our mother. And one does not speak ill of their mother abroad, outside the Republic of Poland,”
he declared.
Dr Nawrocki stated that he believes that “with his presidency, a new chapter will begin in Polish politics—one without walls of hatred, but with a deep sense that, through this election, the citizens of the Polish state are reclaiming their voice.”
“I want to be your voice in Poland and beyond its borders. I will be a president who is not only Polish but who also holds Polish responsibilities, and every day I will prove that I am your voice. I will serve Poland and the citizens of the Polish state. I have no other obligations. Long live Poland. Long live the Polish people!”
he concluded.
