On Monday, a well-known entrepreneur from Nysa was arrested. The reason? Criticizing those in power on social media – reports the nowinynyskie.com.pl website. An anti-terror unit was dispatched to his company.
“The operation took place on Monday, July 28, around 12:00 PM. A group of eight anti-terror officers entered the company’s premises and arrested the man. After the arrest, he was transported to the prosecutor’s office,” the website reports.
According to the spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Opole (Prokuratura Okręgowa w Opolu), Stanisław Bar, “the man’s arrest is related to his online posts and the spreading of hate speech.”
The website has learned that the alleged “hate speech” was, in fact, merely… unfavorable comments about those in power – both at the national and local levels.
The portal reminds readers that the arrested businessman “was one of the heroes who saved Nysa from flooding in September 2024, mobilizing people to rally and defend the river levees on Wyspiańskiego Street.”
