He Does Nothing, but Border Defenders Bother Him. Tusk Uses Hate-Fueled Rhetoric – Talks About “Militias”

Donald Tusk commented on the situation at the border, but once again resorted to insinuations, speculations, and threats. He claimed that the government is “regaining control of the borders” and wrote about “PiS, Confederation, and their militias.” Unsurprisingly, this sparked a political storm, with politicians from both mentioned groups responding immediately.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the temporary reinstatement of controls at Poland’s borders with Germany and Lithuania. He explained that this was necessary to reduce the uncontrolled flow of migrants. On the same day, PiS parliamentary leader Mariusz Błaszczak said that “Tusk’s state has abdicated when it comes to the situation on the border with Germany,” and argued that the government’s actions were delayed and inadequate. This comes in the wake of documented cases of illegal migrants being transported from Germany to Poland — even by German authorities — while Polish officials remained passive.

Tusk’s Post. Politicians React: “That’s What Hurts You”

Tusk decided to go even further. In today’s post on the X platform, he stated: “The more the Polish state regains control over the borders, the more it is attacked by PiS, Confederation, and their militias.” He continued: “First they let in hundreds of thousands of migrants from Asia and Africa, profiting from visa sales, and now they are trying to paralyze our Border Guard. We won’t allow it.”

He did not specify exactly what “militias” he meant, but it is easy to guess that he was referring to the Border Defense Movement, which operates day and night to protect the Polish border against illegal migration.

The post, of course, triggered reactions from politicians. “And the more Donald Tusk regained control of the borders, the more ‘engineers’ appeared on Polish streets,” wrote former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

“The Polish state is not regaining control over the borders. These so-called militias, as you call them, are citizens who took matters into their own hands and exposed your actions — or rather, your inaction. That’s what hurts you, and that’s what you want to crush. We won’t allow it,” added Confederation MP Konrad Berkowicz.

And not so long ago — as MEP Piotr Müller reminded — Prime Minister Tusk himself had said that “Poland will be a beneficiary of the migration pact”…
