“These recordings reveal the kinds of methods Roman Giertych is willing to employ. What strikes me the most is the human element – that he was even prepared to use and manipulate his own father,” said PiS MP Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on TV Republika, commenting on the newly released tapes.
New Tapes
TV Republika released new recordings today, this time concerning the parliamentary elections and attempts to influence the media. In one of the conversations, a politician is heard openly instructing journalists on where and when to publish specific material. The matter pertains to a well-known letter written by Maciej Giertych, the father of Civic Platform MP Roman Giertych. The content of the letter was aimed at discrediting the Law and Justice party (PiS), with the goal of weakening its support and redirecting votes to the Polish People’s Party (PSL). The conversations date back to 2019.
Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk commented on the newly revealed tapes during the program Michał #Rachoń on TV Republika.
“For me, Roman Giertych is such a repugnant figure that I am generally reluctant to comment on any of his actions, which are filled with hatred, frustration, and driven by his own political and legal interests. These motives fuel his campaigns against Law and Justice. These recordings show the extent to which he is willing to go. What stands out to me most is the human dimension – the fact that he was even willing to manipulate his own father. From the conversation, it appears that the father initially had a different view of the letter, but Roman, claiming he had a more modern pen, essentially fed him a version of the letter to be used in a campaign against PiS. That, to me, completes the image of this abhorrent individual,” Szynkowski vel Sęk said.
He emphasized that in his view, “Roman Giertych has long followed the principle that ‘any means are justified in the pursuit of political interest.’ There is no tactic – including an entire array of below-the-belt maneuvers – that he would refrain from using to serve his political goals.”
“Today, we are witnessing an example of this in Roman Giertych’s anti-state activities, specifically his attempt to mislead the public into believing that the elections have been rigged. Anyone with a basic understanding of politics can recognize this as a calculated plan. The idea is to initially sow doubt within a small group, identify a handful of commissions where procedural errors occurred, and use that limited sample to claim election fraud and demand scrutiny of the votes in that sample,” he stated.
The MP also recalled that “the letter was clearly targeted at the conservative, Catholic electorate – a group which, in Roman Giertych’s assessment, might be torn between supporting the PSL and PiS.”
“The aim of that letter was to persuade this electorate not to vote for PiS and to portray PSL as the party that would, supposedly, defend conservative values,” he added.
