    Born on 8th August 1999 in Krakow, Maria Zhang’s heritage reflects a blend of cultures. Hailing from Poland, Zhang’s family tree extends to China, with her father being Chinese and her mother Polish. This fusion of backgrounds laid the foundation for Zhang’s multilingual upbringing. At the tender age of one, she embarked on a journey with her parents from Poland to Beijing, where she spent her formative years. Despite the geographical shift, Zhang’s connection to her Polish roots remained strong, as evidenced by her summers spent in rural Poland with her family.

    Serendipity and Stardom: Zhang’s Journey into Acting

    Zhang’s introduction to the world of acting stems from an unexpected encounter during her pre-adolescent years. At twelve, while in Poland, she stumbled upon a newspaper clipping announcing a casting call for a local community theatre group. This serendipitous moment ignited her passion for the performing arts and set her on a trajectory towards a career in entertainment. Bolstered by the support of her artistically inclined parents, Zhang’s journey took her across continents to pursue her dreams.

    From Breakout Role to Global Stardom: Maria Zhang’s Journey in Hollywood

    Upon relocating to Southern California to pursue higher education at the University of Southern California (USC), Zhang’s talent caught the eye of filmmakers. Her breakout role came in the form of the 2021 short film *All I Ever Wanted*, which garnered critical acclaim and earned a spot as an official selection at the prestigious Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. 

    However, it was Zhang’s casting as Suki in Netflix’s adaptation of *Avatar: The Last Airbender* that propelled her into the spotlight on a global scale. Portraying a beloved character from the beloved animated series, Zhang’s portrayal resonated with fans, capturing the essence of Suki while adding her own unique flair to the role.
