Hołownia Reveals He Was Urged Multiple Times to Stage a Coup

Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia revealed on Polsat News that he was repeatedly urged to carry out a coup d’état. The matter concerns the swearing-in of the new president, Karol Nawrocki.

Who pressured Hołownia?

In an interview with Polsat News, Szymon Hołownia surprised the public. He admitted that in recent weeks, he had come under pressure aimed at undermining the constitutional order in Poland. The pressure concerned blocking the swearing-in of president-elect Karol Nawrocki:

“On multiple occasions, I was offered, or it was suggested to me whether I would be willing to carry out a coup d’état. The time will come when we’ll talk about this, perhaps in memoirs. But no, there will be no coup d’état with me,” said Szymon Hołownia in a conversation with Marcin Fijołek on Gość Wydarzeńon Polsat News.

“I didn’t vote for Karol Nawrocki, it wasn’t my mandate, but as Marshal of the Sejm, I am obliged to respect the will of the majority of voters, to receive the oath from the president, to ensure continuity of command of the Armed Forces and governance in Poland, and to speak with the president, with whom I have fundamentally different views on many matters. Still, I believe there will be areas where real cooperation is possible, for the good of the weary people who for 25 years have simply had enough of this holy war, this constant call for a fight between good and evil, which is completely disconnected from our actual lives,”

said the Marshal of the Sejm.

The Marshal’s words caused a major stir. The politician stated that he had never intended to go beyond constitutional boundaries, despite intense pressure. However, he did not disclose who had suggested such actions to him.
