Commemorated annually on November 16th, this day marks the historic dispatch by Józef Piłsudski of the first foreign message to world leaders, formally announcing the birth of an independent Polish state.
The genesis of Foreign Service Day can be traced back to 2009 when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a decisive move to establish this day as a tribute to the accomplishments of the past two decades.

The 2010 celebrations added an extra layer of distinction as ceremonies were introduced to honour individuals who have excelled in foreign service.
