President Karol Nawrocki was not informed by the government about the missile fired by a Polish F-16—launched to neutralize a Russian drone—that fell on a house in Wyryki. Donald Tusk writes: “Hands off Polish soldiers.” MP Sebastian Kaleta replies: “You are shameless for hiding behind the soldiers in this situation.” “The government misled not only President Karol Nawrocki but the entire public about the missile. This is no longer simple ineptitude—this is playing with Poland’s security!” added former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
“Rzeczpospolita” reported today, citing its own information, that the building in Wyryki-Wola in the Lublin region was hit by a missile launched by a Polish F-16 intended to shoot down a Russian drone. According to the newspaper, the missile “had a guidance system malfunction.”
As it turns out, the government did not inform the President of the Republic in this matter. “The President emphasizes that he was not informed in this regard, nor was the National Security Bureau (BBN), and the matter was neither presented nor clarified at the National Security Council,” the BBN said in a statement issued today.
What does the government say? “Full responsibility for the damage to the house in Wyryki rests with the authors of the drone provocation, that is, Russia. All the circumstances of the incident will be communicated to the public, the government, and the president by the competent services after the proceedings are concluded. Hands off Polish soldiers,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote today.
“No one has any grievance against the soldiers. You are lying to Poles; you lied to the world. That is the crux of the problem. It undermines the credibility of the state’s actions in the eyes of citizens and foreign partners. By doing so, you are essentially supporting Russia’s propaganda goals, which will use this lie to downplay the significance of their attack. You are SHAMELESS for hiding behind the soldiers in this situation,” retorted MP Sebastian Kaleta.
Former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki has also commented on the matter.
“When Russian drones flew into Poland, we knew that unity in the face of external aggression was paramount. Today that unity and the public’s trust lie in ruins, shattered by lies about the circumstances of the drone shootdown. The government misled not only President Karol Nawrocki but the entire society about the missile. This is no longer mere ineptitude—it is toying with Poland’s security! What else are you hiding from Poles, what have you concealed?” Morawiecki wrote.
