Hubert Hurkacz is the winner of the ATP tournament in Marseille! The Pole won in the final against Benjamin Bonzi 6:3, 7:6.
Hurkacz had the opportunity to emerge victorious in the tournament of the season. He had to go through a tough journey, as every single match was filled with plenty of tense moments and drama during the set.
At the start, it seemed like the Pole was in control of the match. He managed to win the fourth game after capitalizing on the second break point. He was serving well, making it difficult for his opponent to create an opportunity. Hurkacz finished the set quickly, taking only 32 minutes.
The second set was a stark contrast from the first. Both Hurkacz and his opponent were serving confidently and there were no breakpoints for a while. The tension began to rise in the twelfth game when Bonzi had three chances to win the set, but he failed to capitalize on any of them and the tie-break was the deciding factor.
The Pole was the superior competitor during the tie-break. His single mini-break was sufficient to keep him in the lead until the conclusion, and he emerged victorious 6:3, 7:6.
