    Iga with WTA Player of the Year Award

    Iga Swiatek has added another trophy to her collection. On Wednesday night (Polish time), she was given the honour of WTA Player of the Year. “I never dreamed of being number one. It just didn’t seem possible to me,” she said at the ceremony.

    In 2022, the Polish tennis player had the best year of her career. Swiatek achieved the top spot in the WTA rankings and won a total of 8 tournaments, which included the US Open and French Open Grand Slams. She won a total of 67 games.

    “Iga Swiatek received the award for WTA Player of the Year!”

    TVP Sport wrote on Twitter.

    “It’s something that is so over my expectations. It’s a place where anyone wants to be. But for sure, it comes with a lot of pressure and expectations,”

    the 21-year-old said during a media briefing to receive the WTA Player of the Year award
