Szymon Hołownia will lose his position as Speaker of the Sejm in November, and Włodzimierz Czarzasty will take his place. It is already known what plan the current Speaker has. The Polska 2050 party will recommend him for the position of Deputy Speaker, to which he has agreed.
“The national council unanimously recommends Speaker Szymon Hołownia for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Sejm,” it was announced during a press conference following the meeting of the national council of the Polska 2050 party.
“We are an honest coalition partner, but a coalition is not slavery. We have our own opinion, but we keep our word. The entire national council unanimously asks Speaker Szymon Hołownia to agree to become Deputy Speaker. And does the Speaker agree?” said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.
Hołownia nodded. “Thank you,” said Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, although Hołownia pointed out that the Sejm still needs to give its approval.
It also turned out that on Tuesday the national council of the Polska 2050 party will indicate its candidate for Deputy Prime Minister. “These are the two positions that the Polska 2050 party receives when the rotation of the Speaker of the Sejm takes place,” said Pełczyńska-Nałęcz. “If this is good for our party as well as for the stability of the coalition, then such a recommendation is an honor for me,” commented Hołownia himself.
