International Cooperation Yields Results: Missing Polish Couple Found in Czech Republic

The relentless efforts of the Central Targeted Search Section of the Criminal Investigations and Person Identification Department of the Polish National Police, along with the Search and Person Identification Department of the Capital City Police Headquarters, have led to the discovery of the whereabouts of Adam and Aneta J., a couple who had been missing for a month.

The disappearance of the couple was reported on May 21st at the Warsaw Mokotów District Police Station, where it was revealed that they had left their two minor children unattended.

The Polish Press Agency revealed that the parents were to leave their children a letter that read:

“Boys, you are brave. You will manage it. We are proud of you.”

It was the worried family who took care of the children of the missing couple who reported the case to the police.

From the very outset, the Central Targeted Search Section and the Search and Person Identification Department became actively involved in the search for the missing couple, under the purview of the Criminal Investigations and Person Identification Department of the Polish National Police and the Capital City Police Headquarters, respectively. Based on the gathered evidence, it was determined that the missing couple might be residing in the Czech Republic. Upon receiving this information, cooperation was immediately initiated with the Czech police. Subsequent to a series of working meetings on Czech soil and the continuous exchange and analysis of gathered information, a breakthrough was achieved.

Due to the international nature of the search, the Polish SIRENE unit, operating within the International Police Cooperation Bureau of the Polish National Police, was also involved in monitoring information exchange with other countries.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts between the Central Targeted Search Section of the Criminal Investigations and Person Identification Department of the Polish National Police, the Search and Person Identification Department of the Capital City Police Headquarters, and the Czech police, the missing couple’s location in the Czech Republic was determined on June 20th, 2023.

Upon discovery, the couple refused to disclose the reasons behind their departure from Poland and their place of residence. However, they expressed their willingness to return to their home country.
