A disturbing act of vandalism has taken place in the center of Mława. Unknown perpetrators defaced the pedestal of the monument to John Paul II by pouring a greasy, oily substance over it. City authorities responded immediately, the incident was reported to law enforcement, and CCTV footage has been secured. “The city firmly says NO to the destruction of shared property,” the official statement emphasized.
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 16, in the evening hours in central Mława. According to the statement, unidentified individuals committed an act of vandalism by contaminating the pedestal of the John Paul II monument with a greasy, oily substance.
The authorities reacted without delay. Mayor Piotr Jankowski promptly took legal action and filed a report of a suspected crime with the relevant services.
To identify the perpetrators, recordings from the municipal monitoring system have already been secured and handed over to the police. The footage is expected to assist in identifying those responsible for the damage.
City officials are appealing to residents to remain vigilant and to care for shared public space. They stressed that such actions will not be tolerated and that those responsible will be held accountable.
