Julia Szeremeta Eyes Redemption in the Boxing Ring

Julia Szeremeta eyes redemption in boxing, preparing for December events and a world title bid.

Julia Szeremeta, Poland’s Olympic silver medalist from Paris, is gearing up for her return to competitive boxing. After a four-month hiatus focused on training, she is set to compete in the Polish Championships in Wałbrzych this December and the Suzuki Boxing Night in Lublin. Szeremeta remains determined to face Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-Ting in a much-anticipated rematch after their controversial Olympic final.

    Focused on New Goals
Since the Olympics, Szeremeta has honed her skills, including sparring with international opponents during the Junior World Championships in Montenegro. Her primary focus is now on the 2024 World Championships in Serbia, where she aims to build on her Olympic success and prepare for future challenges, including the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

    A Historic Achievement
Szeremeta’s silver marked Poland’s first Olympic boxing medal since 1992, cementing her place in history. The controversial final against Lin, who faced scrutiny over gender testing, has only fueled Szeremeta’s drive for redemption in the 57 kg weight category.

The road to Los Angeles is long, but Szeremeta is confident her moment for revenge will come. “I believe we’ll fight again someday,” she says, eager to prove herself once more on the global stage.
