The debate at the sports hall in Końskie started much later than scheduled and went on far longer than expected. Some politicians from Civic Platform (PO) didn’t see that coming. Triumphant graphics declaring “Rafał Trzaskowski – winner of the debate” appeared on their social media profiles—even though the debate had barely begun.
“The debate organized by TV Republika and the subsequent so-called ‘Trzaskowski debate’ ended up sinking the PO candidate. He skipped the first debate entirely and made gaffes during the second, appearing nervous and emotional,” we reported in our summary of the eventful Friday in Końskie.
First, a large crowd in Końskie’s main square attended the TV Republika debate. When it concluded, five candidates headed to another debate—dubbed the “Trzaskowski debate”—held in a sports hall on the outskirts of town. Although it was supposed to begin at 8 p.m., it started significantly late. The debate itself dragged on, ultimately finishing after 11 p.m.
Initially, the event in the hall was set to end around 9:30 p.m., because Rafał Trzaskowski had invited voters to a wrap-up meeting at that time.
Yet, while the debate was in full swing, some PO politicians posted graphics proclaiming “Rafał Trzaskowski the debate winner” on their social media profiles. Among them were Ewa Kopacz and Borys Budka.
According to internet users, they posted these messages at around 10:10 p.m.
