The assets of Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek should be investigated, said the leader of Law and Justice (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, in the Sejm. In his view, new media findings about 21 plots of land cast a shadow over the matter.
The Niezalezna.pl portal reported already in September last year that Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek personally decided that his asset declaration would not be published. Why? Because he has such a right, and the justification for this decision was not made public.
Meanwhile, the television station wPolsce24 claims that Waldemar Żurek owns as many as 21 plots of land. Seven of them are fields or meadows, another seven are forests, and the remaining seven are building plots, with buildings standing on five of them. These buildings include both year-round houses and holiday cottages. Żurek’s plots are reportedly scattered literally across the whole of Poland.
Kaczyński: The CBA Should Investigate This Matter
Today in the Sejm, the leader of Law and Justice (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, was asked about the assets of the justice minister.
“21 plots of land – I know this matter,” Kaczyński said. “He should disclose it, and this matter should be investigated. There is no way he could have acquired this based solely on the good salaries of judges,” he added.
“Either he acquired it very cheaply, or he had other sources of income that he did not disclose. In both cases, this should be the subject of an investigation by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA),” the Law and Justice (PiS) leader stated, adding that the CBA is to be dissolved by decision of the current ruling authorities.
