Karol Nawrocki: Defending Poland’s Energy Sovereignty

Karol Nawrocki visited the Silesian region today, engaging with local residents and mining industry representatives to voice his strong opposition to the EU’s Green Deal. He did not mince words, calling European climate policies “destructive to the Polish economy” and vowing to protect the country’s energy independence. “The Green Deal destroys the Polish economy – socially, economically, and constitutionally. No to the Green Deal,” he declared.

Coal: The Backbone of Polish Industry

Nawrocki underscored the crucial role of Poland’s coal industry, pointing to the now-closed Dębieńsko coal mine, which still contains vast untapped reserves. “When I hear that the closed coal mine in Dębieńsko contains coal reserves that could power our country for the next five decades, yet these resources are being handed over to foreign capital, I say a clear ‘no,’” he asserted. He highlighted coal’s role in providing affordable energy and supporting Poland’s steel industry, which is vital for national defence and economic growth.

Missed Opportunities on the Global Stage

Nawrocki did not hold back in his criticism of the Polish government, accusing officials of failing to defend the country’s national interests in the European Union. “The Polish government is not using its presidency within the EU to address the real concerns of Poles. Instead, they focus on matters that serve their own interests, creating a spectacle for television rather than standing up for the nation,” he argued. He promised that under his leadership, Poland’s resources and jobs would be safeguarded.

Standing Against Foreign Pressure

For Nawrocki, coal is not just an energy source—it’s a symbol of Poland’s sovereignty and economic resilience. He warned against giving in to foreign pressure. “We are giving away our mines to foreign capital or forcing them to struggle against the dictates and pressures imposed by the European Commission. This is unacceptable,” he emphasized. He pledged to be a defender of Polish miners, farmers, and foresters, ensuring their livelihoods remain secure.
