The Independent Self-Governing Trade Union of Individual Farmers “Solidarity” has officially endorsed the civic presidential candidate, Karol Nawrocki. Nawrocki emphasized that the interests of Polish farmers and the prosperity of Polish agricultural holdings are vital to the security of the nation.
— “NSZZ ‘Solidarity’ of Individual Farmers, seeing the threats to agriculture in Poland today and reflecting on what Solidarity has stood for over the past 40 years — with the motto: God, Honor, Homeland — today we declare our support for Karol Nawrocki as a presidential candidate,” said Tomasz Obszański, chairman of the union, during a press conference held in front of the monument to Wincenty Witos in Warsaw.
Nawrocki, thanking the union for its support, said it was a great honor and a responsibility, declaring that “as President of Poland, I will stand up for the Polish countryside and for Polish farms.”
A Significant Agreement
During the event, Nawrocki and Obszański also signed a programmatic agreement. Nawrocki pledged, among other things, to oppose the implementation of the Green Deal in Poland and to seek its rejection. He also stressed that Polish farmers should not have to “compete under unfair conditions with Ukraine.”
— “I will work to rebuild a coalition of frontline states that oppose the EU’s liberalization of trade with Ukraine,” he said.
Nawrocki also stated that he would fight on the international stage to prevent an EU trade agreement with Mercosur countries.
— “The interests of Polish farmers and the prosperity of Polish agriculture are matters of national security for the Republic of Poland,” Nawrocki concluded.
