Szymon Hołownia, Speaker of the Sejm, opened the National Assembly (ZN) to swear in the new President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki. Those gathered in the Sejm chamber sang the national anthem.
According to the Electoral Code (KW), the newly elected president takes the oath before the National Assembly on the last day of the outgoing president’s term in office. Today – August 6 – marks the end of Andrzej Duda’s second term, and it is on this day that Nawrocki’s swearing-in ceremony will take place.
Duda and Nawrocki already in the Sejm
President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda, and President-elect Karol Nawrocki, together with his wife Marta Nawrocka, were welcomed to the Sejm by the Speakers of the Sejm and Senate, Szymon Hołownia and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.
