Kazik Staszewski Defends Muniek Staszczyk Amid Backlash Over Republika TV Appearance

Kazik Staszewski, frontman of Kult, has voiced strong support for Muniek Staszczyk of T.Love after Staszczyk faced backlash for an interview on Telewizja Republika. The interview, aired last Saturday, covered Staszczyk’s growing connection with faith, including the profound impact Pope John Paul II has had on his life.

“Since 2005, he has been part of my generation,” Staszczyk said on the program “Wstajemy.” He recalled the Pope’s influence: “He is the Pope of my generation…he has been present throughout my life.”

However, following the broadcast, Staszczyk faced a wave of negative comments on social media. In response, he posted on Instagram, clarifying his desire to bridge divides in Polish society. “I don’t categorize Poles into right-wingers, left-wingers, gays, or white heterosexuals,” he wrote. He urged for open dialogue, emphasizing, “Polarization has caused great harm. We need to talk with one another.”

Staszczyk also explained that his appearance on the network was tied to the anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s election. “I want to speak to all Poles,” he shared. “I write songs for Poles and am open about my views, which I express strongly when I feel the need.”

Kazik Staszewski defended Staszczyk in a video posted to Facebook, where he delivered a blunt critique of divisive attitudes. “Zygmunt, I want to say that I fully support your decision,” he said, condemning the extreme voices on both sides of the political spectrum: “These people have turned our country into what it is, and they can’t grasp that it’s possible to talk instead of shouting and hurling insults.”
