King Charles III visits Poland, commemorating Auschwitz liberation and honoring historic ties during his first foreign trip of 2025.
A Landmark Visit to Poland
Today, King Charles III of the United Kingdom embarks on a significant journey to Poland. The visit marks his first official foreign trip of 2025 and his first visit to Poland since ascending the throne in 2022. His Majesty will begin in Kraków, engaging with the local community and revisiting a city he has visited multiple times as Prince of Wales.
Commemorating Auschwitz Liberation
The centerpiece of King Charles III’s visit will be his participation in the 80th-anniversary commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. This solemn event underscores his commitment to preserving Holocaust remembrance. Earlier this year, the King met with Holocaust survivor Manfred Goldberg, sharing his story as an educational resource for British schools.
Strengthening Historic Ties
In Kraków, Charles will revisit Kazimierz, the historic Jewish district, and reflect on his long-standing ties with Poland, including his role in establishing the Jewish Community Centre there in 2008. His visit is a tribute to shared history and enduring bonds.
