Maciej Lasek, responsible for the CPK project, just like other politicians from the ruling coalition, boasts that only now has “the CPK project gained momentum.” But what is the truth? Law and Justice (PiS) MP Marcin Horała points it out: “Obtaining just the environmental decision will take as long as three years! For comparison: during my time, we obtained environmental decisions in just over a year,” Horała summarized.
Politicians from Civic Platform proudly emphasize that in the new plan for the Central Communication Hub, rail speed has been increased—allowing travel from Warsaw to Wrocław 15 minutes faster (though Polish producers were excluded from the railway procurement tender). They claim that only now has the CPK project picked up speed and boast that they have “started acting instead of just talking.”
But how does this compare with reality? Marcin Horała (Law and Justice), who was responsible for CPK in the previous government, wrote about it on X.
“The government boasts that the CPK project has ‘gained momentum.’ But let’s look at the facts. The environmental decision for the high-speed rail line to Wrocław, as admitted by Maciej Lasek himself, is scheduled only for the second quarter of 2026. This means that just obtaining the environmental decision will take as long as three years!” he stressed.
He also explained why he believes this is not a change for the better.
“For comparison: during my time, environmental decisions—for example, for the Central Communication Hub itself or for the Warsaw–CPK junction section of the railway—were obtained in just over a year. That shows the difference in pace and effectiveness of actions. Is this the ‘momentum’ the current government is talking about? You can judge for yourselves,” he concluded.
