“Today, because of the ideological foolishness of the Ministry of Education’s leadership, children will have absolutely no preparation, no sexual education whatsoever. That gross exaggeration — which parents and students saw right through — was meant to replace honest education with gender ideology that destroys the minds and consciences of children and youth. And this is how the leftist experiments of Nowacka and Lubnauer end in Poland,” said Przemysław Czarnek on TV Republika.
Data from schools run by the City of Warsaw regarding the new subject “health education” show that in primary schools around 43 percent of students attend the classes, while 57 percent have withdrawn. In secondary schools, only about 14 percent of students take part, and as many as 86 percent opted out.
“We believe that, overall, for the first pilot year of the new subject, the results aren’t bad. There’s no reason for satisfaction when it comes to secondary schools, but on the other hand, we’re talking about a non-compulsory subject,” said Renata Kaznowska, deputy mayor of Warsaw responsible for education, among other areas.
It’s easy to guess that the capital city shows only a partial picture of the catastrophe of the Ministry of Education’s project. What does the situation look like in smaller towns?
- Ełk: Deputy Mayor Artur Urbański reported that only 399 students signed up for the subject, while 3,048 withdrew, which means 87 percent refused.
- Kielce: In this city, 89.6 percent of high school students opted out.
- Kraków (the former capital): The city hall reported that only 33 percent of students will attend health education classes.
Health education officially replaced “Family Life Education” on September 1. This year, it is optional. Parents who did not want their children to participate were required to submit a written resignation to the school principal by September 25. Adult students had to file their own withdrawal forms.
Przemysław Czarnek commented on the complete failure of the subject and of the education ministry on TV Republika:
“Contrary to what the leftist world claims, sexual education has always existed in Polish schools. It was delivered by the right people, to children and youth of the appropriate age and psychophysical development, as part of Family Life Education. Those classes weren’t compulsory — some students didn’t attend because parents had that choice, and we respected it. But now, if you compare the statistics for those who don’t attend health education — in Warsaw it’s 86 percent, and there are towns where not a single student signed up — it’s a disaster.”
He added:
“The tragedy is that today, because of the ideological foolishness of the education ministry’s leadership, children will have no preparation, no sexual education at all. Under the influence of leftist ideology, they claimed that there was no sexual education and that it needed to be introduced — yet it did exist, and now, because of them, it really doesn’t. That gross exaggeration, which parents and students recognized, was meant to replace honest education with gender ideology that corrupts the minds and consciences of children and youth. And this is how the leftist experiments of Nowacka and Lubnauer end in Poland.”
