In a historic move, LOTAMS has begun preparations for its ambitious project at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. The project, valued at an estimated 216 million Polish złoty, is set to become Poland’s premier aircraft maintenance center, catering to a diverse range of aviation needs.
Elevating Poland’s Aviation Infrastructure
The cornerstone of this endeavor will be the construction of a state-of-the-art maintenance hangar covering nearly 13,000 square meters, an expansive apron, and a versatile support and administrative building located within the airport premises. The hangar will feature two dedicated slots for servicing wide-body aircraft, enabling comprehensive maintenance and inspections of PLL LOT’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners and other similarly sized planes.
This initiative not only solidifies Rzeszów-Jasionka’s position as a prominent hub in the European aviation landscape but also paves the way for substantial economic growth. Maciej Małecki, Deputy Minister of State Assets, emphasized the facility’s potential to attract international airlines seeking top-notch maintenance services for their extensive fleets, particularly those flying to distant destinations like China and the Persian Gulf.
Rapid Progress and Job Opportunities
The project timeline is equally impressive, with an expected completion within just 21 months. Starting in mid-2025, the facility will provide employment opportunities for 350 individuals, predominantly skilled aircraft mechanics who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the maintenance hub’s seamless operations.
Adam Hamryszczak, President of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, expressed his enthusiasm for the strategic partnership, emphasizing that the LOTAMS facility not only enhances the airport’s standing in the aviation market but also diversifies the company’s revenue streams, fostering long-term sustainability.
