    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

In the WTA Elite Trophy, Magda Linette’s chances of advancing to the semifinals were dashed as she suffered her second defeat in the round-robin format tournament. The 31-year-old from Poznań, Poland, found herself in a tough group alongside Barbora Krejcikova and Daria Kasatkina.

Linette’s campaign got off to a rocky start as she succumbed to a 2-6, 4-6 loss to Czech player Barbora Krejcikova. The situation only worsened in her subsequent match against Daria Kasatkina. Kasatkina quickly established her dominance, leading 5-1 in the first set. Although Linette managed to win a couple of games, she ultimately lost the set 3-6. Frustration got the better of her as she vented it by striking her racket against her bag.

The second set saw a brief resurgence from Linette, breaking Kasatkina’s serve and taking a 2-0 lead. However, Kasatkina fought back, winning four consecutive games. Despite Linette’s efforts to stay in the match, she couldn’t hold her serve, leading to her second loss and a disappointing exit from the tournament.

Daria Kasatkina advances to the semifinals, awaiting her next opponent in the competition. The WTA Elite Trophy continues to showcase top talent in women’s tennis, with Linette’s quest for a win remaining unfulfilled this year.
