Poland’s Magda Linette, the fourth seed, was eliminated in the second round of the WTA tournament in Hua Hin after a hard-fought battle against Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova. Despite being the favorite, Linette fell in straight sets, 6-7, 4-6, as Sramkova, ranked outside the top 100, delivered a strong performance filled with powerful rallies and well-timed shots.
The first set saw Linette struggle to keep pace, with Sramkova taking an early lead. Linette managed to force a tiebreak but couldn’t hold her advantage, allowing Sramkova to clinch the set.
In the second set, Sramkova broke Linette’s serve early on, and despite a rain delay and Linette’s efforts to stage a comeback, the Slovakian player held her nerve to close out the match.
Linette’s early exit from the tournament comes as a disappointment, while Sramkova advances, continuing her impressive run in Hua Hin.
