    Magdalena Fręch Claims Her First WTA Title in Guadalajara

    Magdalena Fręch wins her first WTA title in Guadalajara, defeating Olivia Gadecki in the final for a career-high ranking.


    Magdalena Fręch secured the biggest victory of her career by defeating Australia’s Olivia Gadecki 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the WTA 500 final in Guadalajara. This triumph marks Fręch’s first WTA title and makes her the fourth Polish woman to win a WTA Tour event, joining the elite ranks of Iga Świątek, Agnieszka Radwańska, and Magda Linette.

    The 26-year-old from Łódź showcased resilience throughout the tournament, notably overcoming the fourth seed Caroline Garcia on her way to the final. Gadecki, ranked 152nd, proved a formidable opponent after her surprise victory over second-seeded Danielle Collins.

    With this win, Fręch not only claimed the top prize of $142,000 but also ascended to a career-high WTA ranking of 32. Gadecki, despite the loss, celebrated her best career result by reaching the final.
