Majka Takes Second in Asturias Opener

Rafał Majka displayed his climbing prowess, clinching second place in the opening stage of the Asturias cycling race. His teammate, 20-year-old Mexican Isaac del Toro, surged ahead to claim victory. Del Toro, recently extending his contract with UAE Team Emirates until 2029, triumphed in the challenging 179.1 km route from Cangas del Narcea to Pola de Lena.

    Del Toro’s Stellar Performance

Del Toro’s impressive ride saw him outpace Majka by a minute and one second. The podium was completed by Uruguay’s Eric Antonio Fagundez of Burgos-BH, finishing just behind Majka. This three-stage, 2.1 category race, culminating in Oviedo on Sunday, serves as Majka’s last test before the Giro d’Italia commences on May 4.

With the Asturias race providing a glimpse of form, anticipation grows for Majka’s performance in the upcoming Giro d’Italia, where he aims for success on the grand stage.
