Major Scandal Surrounding the Justice Fund: New Serious Allegations Against the Ministry and Waldemar Żurek

Further serious doubts are mounting over the operation of the Justice Fund. Attorney Adam Gomoła has highlighted a number of troubling circumstances concerning the Ministry of Justice – overseen by Waldemar Żurek – commissioning a private company under a contract worth nearly one million zlotys to evaluate bids in aid competitions. The case raises questions about the legality, purposefulness, and consequences of the ministry’s decisions, especially as tangible assistance for victims has been halted.

Attorney Adam Gomoła described, on X, the background of the Ministry of Justice’s actions related to competitions for assistance to victims financed from the Justice Fund. As he noted, the ministry hired an external firm for an amount approaching one million zlotys to handle the evaluation of bids in the aid competitions.

“An external company was hired for almost ONE MILLION ZLOTYS to do work that should be performed by ministry officials, because that is what they are paid for,”

Gomoła emphasized.

He pointed out that only one entity submitted a bid in the tender, and that the contract was signed only the day before yesterday, at the moment the matter began to receive media attention.

According to the attorney, to this day, the private company has not begun work because it has not received documents from the Ministry of Justice, and the entire program of assistance for victims remains effectively blocked. “The assistance program for victims is at a standstill,” he noted.

Particularly controversial is the attempt to involve in the evaluation process a person who is simultaneously the attorney’s client and a former ministry official. As Gomoła indicated, his client received an email proposing cooperation, even though, according to the prosecution’s narrative, she is allegedly a member of an “organized criminal group.”

“Did you want the offers in the new competition to be assessed by a person whom you simultaneously want to put in prison?”

the attorney asks bluntly, directing his accusations at Minister Waldemar Żurek.

Bartosz Lewandowski also commented on the matter, referring to the findings of Rzeczpospolita.

“Money from the Justice Fund will not reach victims at least until January 1, 2026. Meanwhile, the ministry commissioned a private company to evaluate applications for one million zlotys, without providing it with any documents,” he wrote, describing the situation as “chaos and a disgrace.”

These allegations call into question the manner in which the Justice Fund is being managed by the current leadership of the ministry, as well as the real consequences for those who were supposed to receive support. As of now, Minister Waldemar Żurek has not publicly responded to the allegations presented.
