For the first time ever, a Polish footballer has been nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskás Award. The award is given to the scorers of the most beautiful goals at the FIFA BEST Football Awards gala in Switzerland. The top 3 finalists for FIFA Puskas Award revealed and there is a Polish amputee among them!
The finalists for the FIFA Puskás Award have been announced, with Marcin Oleksy, Dimitri Payet, and Richarlison all contending for the renowned recognition due to their remarkable goals.
“Polish amputee player Oleksy combined exceptional athleticism, imagination and ability to score with a jaw-dropping scissor kick. His goal triggered wild celebrations among his Warta Poznan team-mates – and footage of the astonishing strike soon went viral,”
FIFA wrote on its website.
From the 11 goals nominated this year, a final three will be selected through a fan vote on the FIFA website. Then the committee will then choose the winner. The winner of the FIFA Puskás Award 2022 will be announced on 27 February at the FIFA Gala in Zurich.
