Mariusz Błaszczak sharply on the authorities’ response to foreign objects in our airspace: “Embarrassing”

Former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak, speaking with Michał Rachoń on TV Republika, sharply criticized the actions of the current government on issues of national security, relations with the European Union, and foreign policy. The Law and Justice (PiS) politician spoke of “embarrassing passivity,” a threat to Polish sovereignty, and the need for close cooperation with the United States.

“We put Polish interests above everything else,” said Błaszczak.

The conversation focused primarily on repeated violations of Polish airspace, defense policy, and the direction in which the European Union is heading today. Błaszczak repeatedly stressed that, in his view, Poland is in a situation that requires a decisive change of course in security policy.

The politician referred to the latest reports about drones and balloons that are violating Polish airspace with impunity. The vice president of Law and Justice (PiS) indicated how the state should respond.

“These objects should be shot down. The Polish Armed Forces have the appropriate weapons to shoot them down. There are anti-drone systems, so they can also be neutralized without shooting them down,” said the former defense minister.

Błaszczak also recalled that, while still serving as Minister of National Defense, he had secured an anti-drone system for Poland produced by a Polish company, which – as he noted – is also proving effective in Ukraine.

“Why isn’t it working in Poland? That is the fundamental question that needs to be asked,” he emphasized.

He assessed the response of the current authorities to these incidents very harshly.

“It is something embarrassing that the lack of a firm response from the Polish services, from Donald Tusk’s government, is ruining Poland’s position on the international stage. How can one allow such practices? It is embarrassing,” he said.

In his view, the problem is not only the lack of a military response, but also a political and diplomatic one.

The conversation also included criticism of the foreign minister.

“Sikorski is a disastrous foreign minister. It is humiliating for Poland that we allow ourselves to be treated this way. If he is not fit for this function, he should step down for the good of Poland,” Błaszczak stated.

A significant part of the interview was devoted to the future of the European Union and transatlantic relations. Błaszczak pointed to the dangers stemming from attempts to weaken ties with the United States.

“We are still dealing with attempts to push the United States out of Europe. This is extremely dangerous for Poland. It is смертally dangerous for Poland,” he emphasized.

According to him, Poland’s security should be based on a strong army and a strategic alliance with the United States.

“We build that strength by strengthening the Polish military. This is always the lever that builds a state’s international position,” he noted.

The Law and Justice (PiS) politician also spoke about the difference between his party’s approach and that of the current authorities to EU regulations and international agreements.

“We are Polish politicians. We put Polish interests above everything else. And they, cosmopolitans, put German interests above Polish interests,” he assessed.

Błaszczak also referred to the unfair structure of the media in Poland, expressing unequivocal support for our station.

“I am very pleased to be on Republika, I support Republika, and I hope it will continue to grow. These attacks on you are not accidental,” he said, pointing to attacks by Tusk’s government, which is trying to silence the largest television station independent of those in power.
