    Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel Clinches 20th Place in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee Super-G

Polish skier Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel secured a commendable 20th place in the super-giant slalom event in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria. Gąsienica-Daniel, just 1.53 seconds behind the leader Cornelia Huetter, marked her second-highest position in super-G, with her best being 16th in Lenzerheide in 2022.

    Huetter Takes the Lead

Austrian skier Cornelia Huetter claimed victory with a time of 1:13.17, outpacing Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie by 0.09 seconds and Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami by 0.21 seconds.

Notably, American Mikaela Shiffrin, the overall World Cup leader, did not participate. Italian Sofia Goggia, a strong contender, faced misfortune, missing a gate. Meanwhile, fellow Italian Federica Brignone secured the fourth position.

    Upcoming Events and Shiffrin’s Decision

The event witnessed a temporary halt following the accident of Austrian skier Nadine Fest. The junior world champion in super-G suffered injuries and was airlifted to the hospital with suspected knee and shoulder injuries.

The weekend will feature downhill and another super-G in Austria, but Shiffrin opted out, citing ongoing recovery from illness. Shiffrin expressed her focus on upcoming challenges in Flachau, Jasna, Cortina, and Kronplatz.
