“Comparing the UPA to the Cursed Soldiers is not a ‘misstep’, but a moral scandal and a trampling on the memory of Polish victims of Volhynia,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
“Moral scandal”
On Monday before noon, a meeting of the Chapter of the Order of the White Eagle will take place. President Karol Nawrocki proposed that one of the items on the agenda should be the revocation of the Order from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after he named one of the units of his country’s Armed Forces “Heroes of the UPA”.
Comparing the UPA to the Cursed Soldiers is not a “misstep”, but a moral scandal and a trampling on the memory of Polish victims of Volhynia. It turns out that in Donald Tusk’s government there is full acceptance of relativizing UPA crimes, and Deputy Minister Szeptycki can continue to hold his position after such statements. A nation that remains silent over the graves of its own children ceases to be a community. A state that allows genocide to be relativized ceases to be a serious state. And a government that is unable to firmly defend the memory of Polish victims ceases to be a Polish government – said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on X.
Important resolution
This morning, during a conference in Lublin, Professor Przemysław Czarnek criticized the promotion of Bandera-related ideology by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of a lack of gratitude towards Poland for the way it has supported his country since Russia’s invasion began. He also backed President Karol Nawrocki’s proposal to strip the Ukrainian leader of the Order of the White Eagle.
“We are submitting a resolution to the Sejm office and demanding that Marshal Czarzasty ensure its progress and that it is processed already at tomorrow’s sitting of the Sejm. This is a resolution to commemorate the victims of genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against Poles,” said the candidate for prime minister Professor Przemysław Czarnek during a press briefing in Lublin.
