Meeting of the President with Farmers. “He Wants to Help the Polish Countryside”

The previously announced meeting of President Karol Nawrocki with representatives of farmers protesting in Warsaw has begun at the Presidential Palace. “The President emphasizes that together with farmers he wants to build responsibility for Poland’s food security,” wrote Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (KPRP), on social media.

After 10 a.m., a meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and representatives of farmers’ organizations who will be staging a protest in Warsaw began at the Presidential Palace.

The protest concerns opposition to the agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countries, on which the final decision – a vote by the ambassadors of the member states – is to be taken in Brussels on Friday.

Farmers gathering for today’s protest oppose the agreement with the Mercosur countries, among other reasons due to concerns that the Polish and European food markets could be flooded with much cheaper products from South American countries.

“The President wants to conduct dialogue and help Polish farmers; together with them, he wants to build responsibility for Poland’s food security,” said KPRP head Zbigniew Bogucki on Thursday, announcing Karol Nawrocki’s meeting with farmers.

Bogucki: Mercosur = financing Putin’s Russia

This morning, Bogucki published a post on social media in which he pointed out that “Mercosur = financing Putin’s Russia.”

President Karol Nawrocki will meet today with representatives of protesting farmers and agricultural communities because he wants dialogue and wants to help the Polish countryside. “The President emphasizes that together with farmers he wants to build responsibility for Poland’s food security” – he wrote. Further on, the head of the KPRP indicated: “Mr President also hopes that the government will be ready for a serious conversation as well – especially on stopping the Mercosur agreement. Because it must be said plainly: Mercosur countries buy fertilizers from Russia.”

“And if agricultural products from that region, produced using Russian fertilizers, enter Europe, then indirectly – via South America – the European market will financially support whom? Putin’s Russia!” he added.
