MFA Dismisses Disgraceful Wreath-Laying, Cries ‘Fake News’ Instead

MFA spokesman Paweł Wroński stated that showing a photo of the laying of the German wreath at the “Place of Remembrance of Poland 1939-1945” in Berlin is an act of creating fake news by TV Republika. He emphasized that official speeches were held afterwards. The thing is, Republika never claimed they weren’t – they were, but the wreath itself was laid in a disgraceful manner.

At a press conference, Paweł Wroński from the MFA said that some fake news stories are particularly painful. He showed photos of a worker who laid the wreath at the “Polish” stone in Berlin. “This photo was used to illustrate the commemoration, and it was stated that this is what it looked like. However, in reality, the commemoration looked as follows,” he said, then showing photos of Polish and German politicians participating in the later ceremonies.

The problem is that TV Republika never claimed that ceremonies under the monument did not take place afterwards. The fact is that the official German wreath was not laid by the politicians who later appeared at the site, but by a local worker.

“When you see a technical worker in heavy boots, in short shorts, walking to lay a wreath, then I’m very sorry – but this is not something one can simply overlook,” commented Adrian Klarenbach.
